Our company was registered and started operating in 2010 and is the true successor, both in terms of ownership structure and core business, to the company JELA doo , founded in early 2001. It can be concluded that the experience of wine trading during this period guarantees professionalism, seriousness and trust of our business partners.
As a well-established wine distributor with origins dating back to 2001, our company is today the leading supplier of wine in southern Dalmatia to multiple channels within the wine industry (restaurants, hotels, cafes, cruise ships). Much has changed since 2001, and Jela Plus has adapted accordingly to become one of the most dynamic suppliers on the market, taking pride in its deep understanding of its customers' needs.
A broad base of suppliers, made up of family wineries – over 75 producers from all over Croatia (Pelješac Peninsula, Dubrovnik area, Dalmatian Islands, Istria and continental Croatia) – ensures the delivery of the right products, of the right quality and at the right price. As leading innovators in the category, we have developed a portfolio that meets the needs of our customers, in both branded and exclusive assortments, while ensuring that each sales channel is adequately supplied.
Wine was brought to Croatia by the ancient Greeks and Romans. The first vineyards were planted on the islands of Hvar, Korčula and Vis in the 6th century. century BC. Continental vineyards were planted along the Danube River, during the time of the Roman emperor Probus, in 232 AD. Over the past 15 years, the Croatian wine industry has seen great progress in quality. Large investments have been made, new facilities have been built, and existing ones have been modernized. In order to succeed in international markets, world-renowned oenologists and marketing experts have been hired.
